• Cornification: Dead skin cells collect in the pore canal and can also clog it.
• Bacteria growth: In clogged pores, bacteria (e.g. Propionibacterium acnes), which can lead to inflammation and pimples.
• Inflammatory reaction: The body reacts to the bacteria with an inflammatory reaction that can cause redness, swelling and pain.
